Bacon & Cheese Burgers

Bacon Wrapped Burgers

Firstly, yes I haven’t posted in a while, my apologies. So, back to the drawing board and I present to you the bacon and cheese burger without a bun and served with a simple salsa. I hope you all enjoy it.

400g minced beef
1/3 cup of dried breadcrumbs
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1 egg
1 garlic clove, crushed
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp paprika
1 tbsp chopped oregano
16 strips of bacon
1 cup grated cheddar
1 small onion finely grated
1/3 cup fresh oregano

Mix the mince, dried breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, onion, black pepper, paprika and chopped oregano together in a bowl. Once mixed, make 4 – 6 burger patties with your hands. Do not add salt to this mixture, the bacon will add a lot of salt already. Once done, heat some oil in a griddle pan and fry the patties for 2 – 3 minutes on each side just to get the char going. Pre heat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Once the patties are done wrap them in bacon, place the oregano leaves on top of the bacon parcel and cook in the oven for 15 minutes or until bacon is cooked. Add the grated cheese and put back in the oven for 1 minute to allow the cheese to melt.

Simple Salsa

2 small tomatoes, chopped
1 small red onion, chopped
1 big green chili, seeds removed and chopped
juice of 1 lime
1/4 tsp black pepper

Mix together and serve on top of you patties with some lettuce of your choice and enjoy. A note from me… This meal is salty, so to break the salt, serve with a slice of canned pineapple. It will work beautifully. Enjoy
